Our history
Maree Investments traces its origins to Amsterdam, where it was founded as a venture capital and private equity firm with a focus on investments accross sectors, domestically and abroad. Over the years, Venture Capital Investors (V.C.I.) established a reputation for identifying high-potential opportunities and supporting them to success in sectors as varied as industrial manufacturing, energy, health and hospitality.
From one of the first leveraged buy-out deals in the Dutch market (acquiring cable manufacturing subsidiary NKF Delft from Philips N.V., sold to NOKIA), to investments in the oil and gas sector (Reading & Bates later acquired by Transocean). These successes laid the foundation for further support of SME companies and a significant commercial real estate portfolio, comprising prime properties in core Dutch markets. This portfolio not only delivered strong financial returns but also provided Maree with deep insights into the intricacies of managing diverse assets.
Today, the second generation continues this entrepreneurial legacy by expanding Maree’s scope into venture capital investments in tech and software industries, alongside education and entertainment. Notably, all second-generation companies were founded and developed internally, underscoring our ability to build businesses from the ground up. Examples include two digital marketing firms, both created to address emerging trends in online advertising and analytics, a new entertainment production company and a venture in education.
This hands-on experience gives us a unique perspective, blending financial acumen with operational expertise. We understand the challenges and opportunities of running businesses day-to-day, ensuring we bring both strategic vision and practical know-how to our investments.
